Books I Have Read

Reading an English book from cover to cover has always been my aim or part of my to-do list that I thought would never happen.

When I was in high school, I read Filipino romance novels. I could finish reading two or three in a day because the number of pages for each was normally up to 140 or 150.

The writers did not really write much. They did not like to stretch the story or maybe it was a requirement for publication.

Love stories. Who would not like to read love stories? I would borrow the novels from classmates or schoolmates and return when done or pass to another classmate or schoolmate until the whole class or school read them. Continue reading “Books I Have Read”

A Long Distance Relationship That Didn’t Last

A young couple declared their love for each other on social media, mostly on Facebook because the other one uses free data.

Their respective families, friends, relatives, classmates, schoolmates, colleagues at work, neighbors, acquaintances, and others were witnesses to their immense love for each other.

The girl would post about how she misses him. How she wished he’s there hugging and kissing her, instead of talking to each other on Skype or Messenger. The guy would then post about how he loves her so much and if only she’s with him in a desert country but promises financial stabilization and wonderful future.

The Stolen Years – a Love-and-Tragedy Story

It is the English title of a Chinese movie. The first few scenes were about a couple (named Yu and Mann) who likes to film themselves while traveling, eating, driving, etc. They were so sweet and so full of love for each other. They just got married.

One time she asked him to kiss her while they were on a motorcycle driving somewhere. She was filming their trip and was insistent so he turned his head to kiss her but then they met an accident.

The next scene was in a hospital. She woke up. And the first thing she looked for was her husband. Her sister was surprised because they were divorced so she told her about it. She was surprised as she thought she just woke up from the motorcycle accident, which happened during their honeymoon. But, she woke up from another accident (a car one which would be revealed later on in the movie) which she couldn’t recall.
